Other Positions

Deputy Principal, Currie Hall, 1997-2007

Other Interests

Chess, Squash, Tae Kwon-do.

See my famous chess game played in the inaugural Commonwealth Chess Championship, Melbourne 1983, for which I received a brilliancy prize.

Research

My research is on the analysis of ion channel data. This work is in collaboration with other colleagues in this School and The School of Medicine and Pharmocology. I am particularly interested in the applications of the EM algorithm and MCMC methods is parameter estimation for hidden Markov models. I have also done some work with Professor Geoff McLachlan in microarray data analysis.

Here is the list of my publications.

Teaching

This year I am teaching STAT3366 3S6 Applied Statistical Methods and MATH1050 Calculus C in first semester. I have taught and co-ordinated STAT1520 (previously STAT1106) Economic and Business Statistics for several years.

Consulting

I was the statistical consultant for the School of Life Sciences at The University of Queenland in 2003. Currently I am a memeber of the The UWA Statistical Consulting Group.
