Grant Keady's Research: Some Links

A summary of some of the main headings for my research interests
follows.
-
Differential equations,
esp. applications of semilinear elliptic second-order pde
in fluid mechanics and engineering applications;
-
Convex optimization problems, esp. involving order properties, such as
minimizing convex V with property
V(max(x,y)) + V(min(x,y)) <= V(x) + V(y) ;
-
Mathematical software of use to engineers,
Matlab
for numerics,
Maple
and
Mathematica
for CA (Computer Algebra) and links to
NAG numeric library, etc. from these interpretive packages.
(My interests in
symbolic-numeric interface software
are described here.
I have helped build, document, publicise various things,
esp. links to NAG numeric library.
Last development work was in 1993.
I don't build it any more: just demo it and write
papers publicising it.)
-
A former research interest, now just a hobby following some
developments, is
Object Oriented mathematical software, e.g.
AXIOM and
MuPAD
for CA, in as much as these point the way for future development of
mass-market CA.
My CAS interests have led to work - and occasional papers -
outside my p.d.e. (and outside symbolic-numeric interface)
interests. Usually this work has its origins in helping
someone who has brought me the problem.
Current and recently past examples include:
four-bar linkages,
Colebrook-White flow law for water in pipes
(see
my papers
under 2000 and 1998 resp. for links).
