I am an Australian Research Fellow/Research Associate Professor in the School of Mathematics and Statistics, at The University of Western Australia.

I am a member of the Centre for the Mathematics of Symmetry and Computation and am the convenor for the Groups and Combinatorics seminar series.

I now have a blog, SymOmega with John Bamberg and Gordon Royle.

In January 2009 we hosted a special theme program on Group Theory, Combinatorics and Computation. The first week was a conference in honour of Cheryl Praeger's 60th birthday while the second week was an informal week of short courses and problem sessions.

Teaching

In first semester 2012 I am one of the lecturers for MATH1001: Mathematical Methods 1. In second semester I am the lecturer for MATH7435: 4P5 Algebra and Combinatorics 2.

Research

My research interests centre around permutation groups. Some particular areas of research have been locally s-arc transitive graphs, decompositions of graphs and fixed point free elements. I suppose you can say that I am interested in any object with a decent group acting on it.

I am currently cosupervising the PhD of Carmen Amarra with Cheryl Praeger and Sylvia Morris with John Bamberg. In the past I have cosupervised two PhD students here at UWA: Scott Brown (with Cheryl Praeger) and Jing Xu (with Cai Heng Li and Cheryl). I also cosupervised the research project of Maria Cristeta Cuaresma (with Cheryl Praeger) for her PhD from the University of the Philippines.

I am willing to supervise honours project in the area of groups and combinatorics. I have cosupervised five honours students in the past: Aedan Pope, Rohan Hewson, Scott Brown and Conor McKenna (with Cheryl Praeger), and Shane Kelly (with Tim Penttila).
