A Geothermal Overview and Evidence for Convection in the Perth Basin of Western Australia

I will present a brief overview of the geothermal opportunities offered by the 
Hot Sedimentary Aquifer system immediately below our feet in Metro Perth. 
The styles of open problems approachable by applied mathematicians will be emphasised. 
I will also present evidence, drawn from old oil well records and other sources, 
for the existence of natural convection systems in the Perth Basin.
