Rockingham : the Bell Park wreck trail

This is one of the easiest dive sites in Perth. Within 100 metres of the beach, and marked by a permanent buoy, there are five boats, two aeroplanes and a washing machine, all joined by guide ropes. The site is inhabited by all kinds of fish, anemones, ascidians, crabs, seahorses etc.

Location

Drive to Rockingham (20 min south of Perth)
and find the Bell Scuba shop
at 43 Rockingham Road, opposite Bell Park
(in the crosshairs on the map).

There is car parking on the road opposite the shop
and also in a small car park even closer to the beach.

Kit up in the park or in the backyard of the shop,
and walk onto the beach.

The dive site is about 50 m from shore.
It is marked by several buoys (with dive flags).

Descend by following the buoy mooring lines,
which will lead you to a rope trail
connecting all the wrecks.

The dive shop has a map of the wreck trail.

Maximum depth on this site is 16 metres. Visibility is usually low (1-5 metres) especially in the afternoons,
as this site has a lot of silt and it is often used for Open Water courses.

Conditions are usually calm and the site is often diveable when most other sites are too windy or rough.

Ideal conditions are a warm southerly (offshore) breeze.

If you get disoriented underwater, head due South and you will hit the slope up to the beach.
